Mayor Resus accepts plaque of appreciation from GEP X President Leo Acido

April 18, 2013 – Maramag, Bukidnon

The 38th annual convention of geodetic engineers of GEP Regional Division X opened today April 18 at the scenic RR Family Spring Resort in Maramag, Bukidnon. No less than the mayor of Maramag Hon. Alicia Paulican Resus welcomed the more than 125 geodetic engineers who attended the said convention. In her speech Mayor Resus talked about the development of Maramag as an investors haven. Having been an agricultural engineer she recalled her college subjects in surveying as a her background strength in local governance emphasizing on agricultural development. She also thanked the geodetic engineers who were instrumental in the cadastral survey of her municipality thereby hastening the issuance of titles and as a result increased the real state tax collection of the municipal treasurer. She envisioned her municipality becoming a city in the 3rd district of Bukidnon having qualified in the total land area and ultimately qualify in the income requirement.

The convention was formally opened by Regional President Leo B. Acido who expounded on their theme “GE’s Partnership with Local Government for Peace and Development”. Participants who were introduced by Chapter presidents came from Lanao del Norte, Iligan city, Misamis Occidental, Ozamis, Oroquieta, Tangub city, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Cagatan de oro city, Gingoog and El Salvador. GEP National President Jimmy Francinilla was represented by Mindanao Area Assembly Chairman Danilo P. Noveloso.

Various topics will be discussed by invited speakers for the Technical Symposium covering Land Use planning, Development Planning, Land Governance, Project Administration and Contracting, values and ethics, PRC updates, Land Registration, GIS and LRA -eTD. Among the speakers are Dr. Jose Gatus, PRC Chairman Ben Mindajao, Dr. Benjamin Jaojao, Atty Manuel Felicia and Engr. Roberto M. Recamunda.

The much awaited fellowship night will feature acoustics band, talent presentations and awarding of Outstanding Geodetic Engineers in Private and government service. They will also elect their respective Chapter officers and Regional Officers. On the afternoon of the second day the Regional President will deliver his report of accomplishments. It will be followed by a business meeting to discuss issues and concerns affecting the organization.

GEP Region 10 is one of the 15 regional divisions of GEPI the accredited professional organization of geodetic engineers in the Philippines.
