April 12, 2013 Maa, Davao City –

The 38th Annual Regional Convention of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Regional Division XI opened today April 12, 2013 at Sunny Point Function Plaza, Ma-a, Davao city. Attended by more than 100 geodetic engineer practitioners of the region the convention opened with the entry of chapter officers, delegates and regional officers. Headed by Regional Division President Engr. Samuel C. Serrano this year’s theme is “Institutionalizing Reforms and accountability in the Practice of Geodetic Engineering Profession”. The convention was graced by National Board of Governors officers led by President Engr. Jimmy T. Francinilla who hails from the same region. Also gracing the event was PRC Board Chairman Engr. Benjamin Mindajao and DENR representative of RED Joselin Marcus Fragada. A touching and emotional minute of silent prayer was offered for Engr. Eustaquio Navarro who died earlier this week and whose internment coincided with the event.

The two day convention will also feature technical sessions to be conducted by renowned local and national speakers who are specialist in the field. The Regional Technical Director of Land Management Services (LMS) Atty. Felix S. Alicer who will talk on Residential Free Patent Act and Updates on DENR policies. A plenary session on the second day will discuss the various issues affecting the organization. This will be highlighted by the election of new set of officers.

Regional Division XI is one of the 15 Regional Division of the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, the only accredited professional organization of geodetic engineers recognized by the Professional Regulations Commission.
