The 35th Annual Regional Convention of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines, Regional Division XII opened today at Sarangani Highlands Resorts, Tambler, General Santos city. The two-day convention held in an upscale resort here has the theme “Steering the Geodetic Engineering Profession Towards Global competitiveness”. Delegates wil be welcomed by no less than Hon. Darlene Magonolia Anotonino-Custodio, mayor of General Santos City. Keynote Speaker is no less than the DENR Regional Executive Director Datu Tungko M. Saikol. The Regional Technical Director of Land Management Services Morakie P. Domanday, Al Haj will also give an inspirational message.  GEP National President Jimmy Francinilla will give updates on the National Board’s activities.

The geodetic engineers will be updated by top notch speakers on the topics such as “Cadastral Survey Road Map & Global Technology Innovation”, “DENR Updates, Issues and Concerns”, “PRC Updates, Professionalism, Moral Values and Formation”, “GE Consultancy and Responsibilities”, “Economic and Environmental Effects of Mining”, “Lares and Land Titling Computerization Issues” and “Essence of CAD on Land Surveying”.

Engr. Peter Salac said that the affair will also be a time for camaraderie and fellowship. He also enjoined members to participate in the Plenary Session on the second day to address the pressing problems, issues and concerns relating to the profession. He also stressed that the attendance to the convention is a requirement for the issuance of license and and a venue to earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points.
